Welcome to the Penguin Centre

Situated off beautiful Victor Harbor, just 65km south of Adelaide, is Granite Island--home to a colony of Little Penguins. Whilst the guided penguin tours don't start until dusk, the Penguin Centre is open during the day; and offers visitors an intimate penguin experience that is second to none.

The Penguin Centre was established in 1995 and offers the Fleurieu Peninsula's sick and injured penguins a place to recuperate. You'll be introduced to the latest patients in an informative talk that covers everything you'd want to know about the island's Little Penguin population.

As part of the island's penguin protection program, over 150 artificial burrows have been built to encourage breeding. Several of the burrows are located in the Penguin Centre and have viewing windows so, if you are lucky, you can glimpse the penguins in their homes.

The centre also has several interactive displays and activities for children to enjoy whilst learning more about Granite Island’s intriguing natural environment.

For opening times, ticket costs, group bookings and directions, please go to the Visitor Information page. Should you have any questions simply complete the form on the Contact Us page or ring 08 8552 7555.

Dorothy, Keith and the Little Penguins look forward to seeing you soon!
